Red face Install stops at cpu 0
Hi
I've been running 32bit pcbsd9 on an old machine for sometime and decided to install a 64 bit on to my HP xw6200 which has 4 xeons and 4gb so should be good. I downloaded the cd and it got part way and stalled so I brought a dvd and it does the same.
I get past the select boot 1-6 and it stalls at the lines
acpi_timer 0:<24bit timer at 3.579455mhz>port (I think, cant read my notes!!) 0xf808-0xf80b on acpi 0
CPU0 : <ACPI CPU> on acpi 0

I also have a free bsd dvd and it does the same.
I tried the verbose and with free bsd knocking out acpi but still got the same.
Did I read of a problem with nVidia graphics? Mine has a QUADRO NVS285, could that be the problem??

Hope somebody can help me please...thanks

I should add that I just tried the 32 bit cd I used on another machine and it worked ok up to the blue screen and commitment to install, at which point I aborted.

If your system has on-board video, you could use that until the install is finished. This would be changed in your BIOS.

Hi,

Check to make sure your bios is updated to latest release version. If you are already using the lastest bios update, try set the bios to "defaults" (assuming you are not using RAID/exotic hardware configuration) and see if that helps.
