Default Update Manager: scheduled checks
I have read the handbook and it says the Update Manager checks for updates and patches upon every boot; I quote from the handbook how often the Update Manager checks for updates: "this happens automatically whenever you boot your system."

Could the Update Manager be configured to check for updates every X minutes e.g. every 20 minutes? This would be especially helpful for those of us who use the computer for very long periods of time. It would be very useful for people who frequently put their computer into power saving e.g. hibernation - to avoid rebooting.

This sentence has been updated for the 9.1 handbook: http://wiki.pcbsd.org/index.php/Update_Manager.

The ability to change the default 24 hour schedule may be added for 9.2.

Another suggestion: during the installation process of PC-BSD, have a schedule option for the Update Manager, so a default setting (e.g. check for updates once every hour) can be set for all users.
