Question What Graphic cards/chips are supported?
Is there a list of supported gfx chips in PC-BSD?

Of course every gfx chip may work because of VESA or some old drivers. But this is just very basic support.

What gfx chips are best supported in features?

I know that Nvidia supports FreeBSD with good drivers. So nvidia chips are recommended for PC-BSD.

How about Intel onboard-chips or AMD APU?

Is there a good overview?

Avoid any radeon, HD5xxx or higher, including the APUs. Even older HD radeons have various issues, but at least you can get good 2D acceleration and 3D compositing with them.

If you have a new pce with an intel graphics card, probably you will need get PCBSD 9.1 RC1 version.

I tried to install pcbsd 9.0 isotope edition I have a samsung np300e5a intel HD 3000 gpu but pcbsd intel graphics are not supported for this card, vesa graphics (1024x728) are setted as default and i've couldn't change, up to now.

the PCBSD 9.1 RC1 has support for those intel cards definitely. it works so nice, all its features.
