Give gnome2/mate a single panel like linux mint. This gives a much cleaner look and feel. This also more consistent with your lxde desktop. Windows users and mint users will feel at home. (Given that Mint is #1 on distro watch I think that its working for them.)

Do you have a screenshot or URL to one? Is this just for MATE or for GNOME as well?
