Default Question - Adding ZFS storage to existing 9.0 UFS install
I have a working 9.0 ufs based install that I want to extend to also serve as a repository for photos and vids. Rather than dumping those into home/usr I want to take advantage of ZFS mirror by putting in a simple 2TB mirror. Is it as simple as create tank mirror disk1 disk2? I would end up with a /tank entry in the file system. I should be able to ftp photos and vids up there and take advantage of the mirror? If I lose the base system intall due to disk corruption or hardware failure I could just reinstall PCBSD and recover the zpool. Does this make sense or am I over simplifying it.

That is correct, you can add a new ZFS pool anytime with a command like
that Plus, its easy to add new drives to the mirror and such later on.

Thanks for the response. This is good news for those that want to create a system similiar to FreeNas without being tied into all the limitations of a specialized implementation. Will give it a try.
