Default Bootup is very slow
By now you know I love PC-BSD. I've installed PC-BSD 9 on my main PC (this is a high-end PC!) and my under-powered netbook. On both computers, the bootup of PC-BSD is very slow. I'm using RC1 on my main PC.

Are there any plans to make bootup quicker?

The slow bootup is a shame, because once booted, the OS feels fast. I know it's very secure as well.

This is a small concern for me as well. But, PC-BSD being built on top of FreeBSD which is more server oriented and would rarely ever need to be booted up I understand why it is not a concern in some situations.

For instance I have installed it on my home media server and since that never shuts off I don't notice, but on my Laptop that reboots all the time.

The PC-BSD developers would have to undertake this problem on there own I would imagine, it's not a deal breaker though at least in my opinion.

This not a bug, and apparently there's a solution you can implement by changing some settings: I suggest a forum search.

I will try to find the settings which make the OS boot faster.

Could these hidden settings be activated by default in future versions of PC-BSD?

When we can

FreeBSD still hasn't tagged 9.1-RC2, so we cannot build 9.1-RC2 images..
Hopefully they do that soon.

The bootup is even slower if the computer is not connected to the internet!
