Question - Adding ZFS storage to existing 9.0 UFS install
I have a working 9.0 ufs based install that I want to extend to also serve as a repository for photos and vids. Rather than dumping those into home/usr I want to take advantage of ZFS mirror by putting in a simple 2TB mirror. Is it as simple as create tank mirror disk1 disk2? I would end up with a /tank entry in the file system. I should be able to ftp photos and vids up there and take advantage of the mirror? If I lose the base system intall due to disk corruption or hardware failure I could just reinstall PCBSD and recover the zpool. Does this make sense or am I over simplifying it.
Thanks for the response. This is good news for those that want to create a system similiar to FreeNas without being tied into all the limitations of a specialized implementation. Will give it a try.
