Default Problem with PCBSD Installation
Hello,

I decided to install PC BSD in my laptop. I downloaded the DVD iso file from the official web page. I do not have a DVD, so I tried with a USB stick. I used Unetbootin to do it. Everything went ok during the process, but when I boot with the pendrive, it says the kernel is corrupted. So I thought the problem might be Unetbootin. I really need to use the DVD image I downloded, I can not afford to download a USB image, because my internet connection is very slow, around 30 kb/s ( sometimes even slower ) . So I need to find a way to install the DVD image inside the USB. I am writing this from a Linux operating system.

EDIT: Also I can only download large files via bittoreent, because my internet connetion resets after sometime ( 30 mins ~ ).

Cheers,
Sam.

How about downloading one of the CD versions instead?

You should probably just download the USB-Lite image (~600MB) and use that to install instead. You can always go into the system manager post-installation to change your system configuration if you wish (without a full re-install).

I don't have a good solution, if you cannot download the image you cannot proceed. I know that bsdmall sells dvds, that are not the right way for you. I also can report that the mirrors of snapshots are quite slow, and it took me more than three trials to download a complete iso....
Have you checked the iso you download against the checksum to see if something went wrong with the iso-to-usb process or if it is really damaged? Have you tried to boot a virtual machine with such iso? Just a few trials you can do in the meantime the download goes its way...

Thanks for the replies.
Something weird happened during a 'dd' command. The iso file got deleted somehow.
I'll have to download the full USB .img file via bitorrent.

I guess it's fixed, though it might take days for me :\

I suspect you messed up if and of overwriting the input itself...it can happen!
Happy to hear that it is now working.
