Default Installing additional desktop environments
Today I went back to PC-BSD after having given it a thorough try around 1,5 years. To start with I chose only a small installation and therefore LXDE as my DE. I assumed that it would be easy to add KDE or XFCE later, if I wanted. However, this option does not show up in AppCafe. Is there another way of installing the alterntive DEs?

To add/change desktop environments, you need to go to the PC-BSD Control Panel -> System Manager -> System Packages. This lets you add/remove different system packages (such as KDE, XFCE, Qt development, etc..) without having to re-install PC-BSD.
The AppCafe is just for installing/removing PBI's. We tried to make a clear distinction between PBI installations and system package changes in 9.0, so that people can be clear whether the application is stand-alone or integrated into the base system.
