Yes, the same as in my first post. Just before the memory test. No error message.

I can confirm the same behaviour with the updated USB release on my Toshiba Satellite U200.

I'll attempt to download the full DVD and try booting from that

Hi Kris.

The problem persists...
(using the latest 20120605 snapshot (DVD)).

Thank you.

Default Live system does not boot
This disk works on other systems, right?

This is a mystery. We are using the identical loader, stamped the same
way as FreeBSD does it, so nothing should be different there. Maybe its
a bug with our images being much larger than theirs?

Would it be possible to boot a FreeBSD live system, then mount the PC-BSD install disk from another drive (second dvd drive or pen drive), and run the installer from there? What steps would be needed to do so?

Not sure how to do that at the moment. However, have you tried booting
any of our USB images? Do they fail in the same location?

Yes, all the same. FreeBSD boots fine on all media, PC-BSD stuck just before the memory test on all media.

The only other thing we do different is using a mfsroot filesystem. It's
possible that it is the culprit here. I'm going to tweak our setup a bit
to not use the mfsroot for the next snapshot. Would you be willing to
test that?

Yes I can test that. I still have an empty partition on my old Toshiba laptop, reserved for PC-BSD. But I must admit that my preferences now are with Ubuntu 12.04, which is really working fine on all of my hardware (Acer Aspire One 521, Toshiba Satellite Pro A200, MacBook, Acer Revo 3700, iMac G5, Mac mini, and the newest one: Lenovo Ideacentre K330). I hate Windows, and I'm not very enthusiastic about Linux, my heart goes BSD, and I wish I could run BSD the same way on all my hardware as I can run Linux.
