Default Error msg and No GUI/desktop after install
I have been away for a few months after testing the Betas last year. I just installed the official 9.0 dvd 64 bit full version for the first time.

After a seemingly successful install on a 12 gig partition I get an error message after the start options screen and before going to the login with password screen. I hit Close at the error and it continues to proceed to the password screen. When the system loads what should be the desktop I see nothing but a sea of black with bubble text high to the left on my screen. The bubble text says, Wireless connection not found click here to fix. And after a minute, another bubble text shows with the message Click here for updates. That is all I see. These bubble text boxes are clickable to bring up the apps associated with them so installing updates were possible though this didn't help this black screen problem.

The error message is this:

There is a problem with the configuration server.
(/USR/local/libexec/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256)

Wow that install was long.. took almost 3 hours. I watched two full length movies while waiting for the install to finish. Is this normal or is this an indication that I'm having other problems that could have effected the installation?

I'm not sure if I was trying 9 or 8.2, but the installer required a 15 GB partition. I remember because I had to delete my virtual drive and make a larger one.

Thats as good a place as any to start I guess. I'll resize and try again. Thanks.
