100% success today. Installed skype and made a test call. Had to set my audio device to oss ... but it worked. Much obliged.

Can this workaround to manually set to oss for the audio work in Skype be automatically built by the PBI developers for the PBI of Skype?

Probably, one of us should open a p/r at freebsd.org about this. The PBI is just a clean wrapper/package around the existing freebsd ports package.

Sorry I could not reply after because my PSU was damaged so no computer :| does it works right now directly from the appcafe? i just re installed PCBSD with KDE so I'm curious about it...

Yep, looks like its working for me. Just change your audio device to OSS and all is goodness.

I guess you could say that its a bug. But, skype is running under the linux emulation packages on BSD, so I doubt anyone at skype will even look at it.
