Default Kernel source are are not found in /usr/src/sys
Dear all,
I installed the latest 32bit PC-BSD 8.1 beta 1 from the DVD. When I am asked for additional components I choose to install the sources and ports. The ports are installed after installation has finished but the kernel sources are not. They cannot be found in /usr/src/sys

All best,
Archon.

Just did a test here with a RC1 ISO (out soon) and it seemed to load src
just fine, I got everything normal in /usr/src/sys. You sure you weren't
looking in the ports jail by mistake?

I have the same problem with 9.1 amd64 (Full USB distro).

Got to press twice from the "System Manager -> Tasks -> Download Kernel Sources" and there is nothing on /sys (I try to build form source an nvidia-driver and it complains).

Also tried trough the sysinstall tip with no success: no "ssys" distribution. Also the FTP source searches with suffix "-p4" which is not found on the FreeBSD servers.

P.S. Workaround found. I copied the kernel source code from the 'sys' folder found inside the USB dist/extras/components/src.txz

You can use patched FreeBSD src tree

Copy old /usr/src as example with, if you have one

Code:
mv /usr/src /usr/src-orig

Then can download patched FreeBSD Sources with

Code:
cd /usr ; git clone git://github.com/pcbsd/freebsd.git ; ln -s freebsd src
