this pcbsd should never been released.
|
This is beta software, (version 0.78?) it hasn't been released as on official finished product yet. Comparing it to finalized products is being "uninteligent" (couldn't find a word, not offensive intended...) and unfair.
B-E-T-A last time i checked didn't stand for a 100% working product...

kde never worked right for me right of the bat!
|
Did you have technical problems or just dont like kde? I really couldn tell from your sentence.
If you had KDE technical problems, they could be kde bugs or kde/PC-BSD integration bugs. As this is beta software, that means we are searching for those bugs. Feel free to post about your findings. If you post bugs will be fixed. It's just a matter of time.
If you simply dont like the kde interface, you shouldn't have installed at all.

shame on you who pushed this crap out on the unsuspecting public.

This is free and open source. People choose what to use. Obviously, as beta software it is, i couln't call this perfect but it's shurely not crap. Do you mind what do you mean by crap?

its junk, and i'll be sure to spread the word..

Feel free to do so. You must have a legion of folowers just waiting to hear the bad news. I can tell that just by your post. Unfortunately for us, tomorrow the whole world will rise against us and demand we end this project for good... I fear for the world. you know what happens when you dont like something.

i've been using pc's and macs for over a decade, linux for the last 5 years. and i've seen some sorry looking/working software but this takes the cake. after i registered at this forum i took a look at the list of users, its (surprise) a really small list. as i suspect many others got taken by the hype over 'an easy to install bsd varient. what bunk.
|
Have to tell you this again. BETA software cannot be compared to finished software. I belive you should ask Macintosh and Microsoft developers for early beta releases of their operating systems and compare these with PC-BSD.
This is an easy to install OS (if you dont have a bug preventing you to do so which hasn't been fixed) compared to any other BSD with the exeption of a similar project caled DesktopBSD. Obviously, you havent used BSD before and therefore shouldn't be using this argument.

just so you know, i more than welcome any discussions on this from anyone, email only though as i plan on uninstalling this as i have a muliple drive setup and will go back to using
ubuntu or suse pro.
|
I am glad you have a multiple drive setup. i have one myself and i like it too.
No need for emailing, just come here and talk. It's very easy to break any argument you throw in so this will be fun for me. I am patient.
About the multiple drive setup, i hope you have not installed our BETA software on a drive containing valuable data or other os's. It's not very smart. I often see people stressed about losing data/other os's and you look like one of those people. i may be wrong (no offensive intent here).
When i want to try new software, i never get into trouble because i have multiple hard drives, i back up my data and never install software without testing it first on Vmware or an extra hd i also own.
I usually disconnect all other drives when testing on that old drive. It's just for security as i could by accident install an os on the wrong drive or delete important data. People do these mistakes especially when they have multiple drive setups with lots of similar sized hard drives.
I think you should go back to Ubuntu or Suse. I personally wont miss you. Suse Pro and Ubuntu are exellent finished products and most of the time behave like such. I use ubuntu myself and like it. I like gnome more than i like KDE but... that is just subjective... And a desktop environment is not an operative system as you must know...

the invitation stands, i'm serious, although i really don't expect to hear from anyone, but if you feel so inclined, by all means, contact me..

why would i send an e-mail to a stranger... If you want to debate, please be more specific about your complaints and post HERE.
If you dont want to post, better. You free bandwidth and storage space from our server's drives. Any bit you add here is a wasted bit. I am serious. My hotmail account is on my profile but please dont email me. You aren't welcomed to waste my bandwidth and my inbox storage space. Use the forum if you must...
Gotta love this (i am serious) JERK.
