Default Linux Jail fails to load the terminal....
hi..
after a complete system upgrade, i had been trying access the terminal from the "Launch Terminal" option in warden (debian jail). The konsole loads and vanishes. i felt it might be a small upgrage problem created so i un installed (deleted) the jail and re-created. still i am having same problem....

i wish to run X from the linux jail which i was unable to in my previus version. Hope i can do that... but first i need to access the debian jail environment terminal !

Try it from the CLI, so we can see any error messages:

# warden chroot <jail ip>

Odd, you said this is a linux jail? Can you do "warden list" and paste
output? Did you remove root user from linux jail by any chance?

[rvc@pc-bsd] ~% warden list
IP HOST AUTOSTART STATUS TYPE

192.168.1.6 debianjail Disabled Running linuxjail
[rvc@pc-bsd] ~%

i dont think i did anything other than deleting my previous jail and go for a fresh install... i was asked for the root password for the dbianjail which i did (it is different from the base pcbsd pass... thats the only difference. does it need to be common?)

further to this, i opened terminal to issue the "sudo warden gui" command to notice whats wrong... and here is the output in the terminal (though warden opened) NOTICE THE LAST BUT 3rd LINE thats showing something that may help you guide me !

[rvc@pc-bsd] ~% sudo warden gui

Can you let us know if this is still an issue in the new Warden for 9.2?

Confirming this is still an issue. Same exact symptoms/errors & results.

Just tried to create a second debian jail after I deleted the old one and manually destroyed the zfs for it. Here is the output of "Creating Jail:"

/usr/bin/uname
9.2-RELEASE-p8
DEF: 9.2-RELEASE-amd64
Setting up linux jail...
/usr/local/share/warden/scripts/backend/createjail.sh: cannot create /usr/jails/debiandev/etc/master.passwd: No such file or directory
mv: rename /usr/jails/debiandev/tmp/master.passwd to /usr/jails/debiandev/etc/: No such file or directory
mv: rename /usr/jails/debiandev/tmp/pwd.db to /usr/jails/debiandev/etc/: No such file or directory
mv: rename /usr/jails/debiandev/tmp/spwd.db to /usr/jails/debiandev/etc/: No such file or directory
rm: /usr/jails/debiandev/tmp/passwd: No such file or directory
cp: /usr/jails/debiandev/etc/resolv.conf: No such file or directory
chroot: /.fixSH: No such file or directory
Success! Linux jail created at /usr/jails/debiandev
Changing root password on: chroot: /.chpass.sh: No such file or directory
FAILED!

I actually had this same issue, I tracked it to me messing around with my host firewall settings and doing a jailed firewall, you guys may want to look into that.

I stopped the PCBSD firewall and tried installing a Debian jail, some error.

Maybe setting firewall_enable="NO" in /etc/rc.conf to stop the IPFW jail firewall is what is needed?
