Default Kde 4.10
Hello everyone,
It's been a long time (freebsd 4.x) since I've been a PC-BSD user. Just curious, in 9.1 it seems with have KDE 4.9.3. I wonder how long it might be before we see upgrades to 4.10 packages?

Thanks!

Thats great news...
i just upgraded to kde4.10 in my arch linux and i should say its really faster and eats lesser resource... (pcbsd on the same laptop with kde shows 55 to 60 deg celcius acpi where as in kde 4.10 in arch, it is 40 to 45 deg celcius !)
appmenu option is a great one and in arch At apps work like a charm but not the gtk apps... coz appmenu-gtk is a glitch to install !

just sharing my experience...

thats great news sir....
an update from my side (from the experiences and reading the related forums)

for Appmenu to work with GTK apps, we need appmenu-gtk which we have to install from the repo... unfortunately, pacman failed to build and returned with error. guys with Kubuntu could also not get appmenu to work for gtk apps...
(the base gtk was not compatible, may be)... only those who installed KDE above ubuntu could get the gtk app to work on the appmenu...

i am sure pcbsd style of building kde4.10 will be a total dep cleared version and we wont be beating around the bush setting things !

Looking forward for the KDE 4.10 !
eager to post a shot on KDE4.10 running of PCBSD.... (many linux users are of the opinion that pcbsd is always a couple of versions behind !)

I've tried KDE 4.10 and it is pretty good. It is faster than the past two releases and the file indexing has been greatly improved. Looks pretty nice too.

As I know KDE 4.10 is not so near because problem is FreeBSD graphics (I use FreeBSD still) and our drivers are bad.
BTW; I use KDE 4.9.5 and it works much better than 4.8.

For someone is less expensive to change OS than buy a new graphics card which supposed works.

BTW: on freebsd.org stay:

"FreeBSD® is an advanced operating system for modern server, desktop, and embedded computer platforms..."

What MODERN DESKTOP mean for them, please?
