9.1 Broadcom Wireless 4311 Rev 2 network unable to connect

I installed 9.1 and it is okay. My WiFi card is getting detected (bcm 4311) (However it is displayed as "unknown wireless card" in networkmanager config)and I am also able to scan the networks.However, when I try to add the selected network by inputting the WPA2-personal pwd , I get a dialog box "Network is restarting" and the system hangs. Mouse and keyboard is deactivated and I have to do a hard boot.Pl help

I have the same problem in that when I hover the mouse over the wireless icon it says "unknown wireless device". Nearby wireless networks are not seen. When I entered DMESG into xterm, I see a few messages telling me bwn0: RF switch is off. It is not. Also that bwn0 needs multicast update callback.
