Default no update from 9.0 to 9.1 ?
Hi,
I'm trying to update/upgrade from 9.0 to 9.1 but there doesn't seem to be any automated way to do so.
The Upgrade Manager says my system is fully updated.
Trying to manually upgrade to 9.1 gives me this :

[beni@bsdaddict] /usr/home/beni# pc-updatemanager check
No updates available for 9.0!

[beni@bsdaddict] /usr/home/beni# pc-su pc-updategui
Qt: Session management error: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported
Locale: "en"
"Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 3 mirrors found."
"Fetching metadata signature for 9.0-RELEASE from update4.FreeBSD.org... failed."
"Fetching metadata signature for 9.0-RELEASE from update5.FreeBSD.org... failed."
"Fetching metadata signature for 9.0-RELEASE from update3.FreeBSD.org... failed."
"No mirrors remaining, giving up."
()

[beni@bsdaddict] /usr/home/beni# pc-updatemanager install release-9.1
cat: /var/db/pc-updatemanager/available/9.0/major-update: No such file or directory
ERROR: Invalid major release for update!

Is the only way to update a complete reinstall from dvd or are the update-servers not ready yet ?
Thanks for any help,
Beni.

I could not update from 9.1 RC3 at my office network, because of the firewall. Update manager kept saying my system was fully updated.
Yesterday night I connected at home and now update manager reports that 9.1 is available. (I'm still not convinced I should update already. Waiting for more stability news.)
So maybe you have a networking issue.

No network problems or abnormal firewall parameters (standard pc-bsd firewall).
And all the other program and security updates are applied with the same setup.

Unless you simply cannot do a clean install, I would advise against upgrading anyway.

i got a system upgrade message through the update manager and i am currently going for an upgrade from RC-3 to 9.1. (my screenshot in the show your pcbsd desktop displays just that !)
i did that earlier from 9.0 to 9.1-RC1 and then to RC-3.
i am doing it slowly and steadily for the past few days ! now i ve reached just 57% and i know i ll stop some time later to shut off my laptop !

will post a fresh screenshot after the full system upgrade is complete !
just want to ask... how do i upgrade the freebsd port jail and the apps that i run from within the jail... that will be my next task !

till then its wait and watch !

as a final quote... i should say PC-BSD is keeping my engaged and i am thoroughly enjoying my experience !
