Default SOPA and PIPA; Internet to die soon ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...ive/Learn_more

This is getting ridiculous. Sooo, a bunch of hollywood movie moguls,... , want to censor the entire Internet. ?
I believe this will surely affect everyone around the world.
Why do americans think that they even "own" the World Internet ?
this just boggles. !?

Obama has already threatened to veto it and it doesn't look like it will even be brought to the House floor: http://www.politicususa.com/en/obama-opposes-sopa

and I'm sure, we ALL hope so, 'cause that would be the "right" thing to do, whether or not Obama wants to be President again.

-so much for this only affecting the US, it's definitely affecting all countries.

I think that it shows that they don't need SOPA to close sites down.

SOPA only offers new schemes that are easier to implement, but ineffective.

... not really,
SOPA will simply give them the legal "License To Kill", and sadly, the "effectiveness" of that will be invisible to the average user, ...

A very Canadian statement. This same sort of draconian filtering was being discussed in Australia a few years ago, you know.

This is ridiculous, but I got sick about the noise everywhere.
There's a huge discrepancy between the comments and the actual damage in my country and while I understand that such law would be much worse for the US, I feel that the worldwide reaction is far too strong.
And, anyway, it wouldn't kill the Internet, there are hard to censor mechanisms like I2P that would continue to work regardless of what politicians want.
You can't kill the net w/out killing cryptography, which is impossible anyway. Even chinese failed to do so, so they resorted to throttling traffic that they can't read. Such solution wouldn't be accepted on the west.

Yep, and now that the "real" story is out, -it's such an obvious plain FACT, that the Iraq war was fought for lots of "cheap" OIL, it's no wonder why the American's don't need to buy our Canadian Oil right now. Sooo, Micheal Moore was right afterall.
...
we (canadians) have gotten royally screwed lately, thanks to our PM - Adolf Harper, and Alberta's "Pipe"-Dreams -Lol
snakeOILsalesman still exist mate - they're in the American Congress.

.... mmm, that's probably why I miss the "Trudeau" years, ....the days when we actually stood up AGAINST "NAFTA",..., and many "other" american foreign policies', AND more importantly, Canada used-to actually manufacture a lot 'o things.
But not anymore
Nope, nowadays, we just sell our country's natural resources, hoping, against hope, that THAT doesn't end too soon ? - wtf ?!

I guess, "outsourcing" rules at any cost ? and now that those same still-un-named Sponsors(Corps), of SOPA/PIPA, that greedily-helped their "own" Industy to flourish, because of the INTERNET, suddenly need to buy yet another Ferrari ?, and yet they now realize that too many ppl in the world are "watching" their movies,... for what the ISP's only charge monthly ?!>
BTW, anyone else notice, that Bell, Rogers', and many other ISP's worldwide are NOT exactly taking "OUR" side's, in this dillema.?
...that's what makes me really sick.

imho, of course.

Americans never voted for the president that lead us to the war in Iraq, George W. Bush. He actually lost Florida to Al Gore but was appointed president by the Scalia 5 on the United States Supreme Court.
Not all Americans are bad people and a lot of us are tired of the same crap as the people in Canada. As an American I share your concern. A lot of people in America are also trying to fight the building of the Keystone XL pipeline because it's an environmental hazard and because the oil is going to be refined and EXPORTED to places like China. The pipeline will not benefit those living in North America.
