Default Oracle Java Firefox Plugin
My company's remote desktop via web portal (Cisco) requires Oracle Java mozilla plugin. OpenJDK won't work. I installed java from ports and linked the plugin file libjavaplugin_oji.so to ~/.mozilla/plugins but Firefox refuses to load it (aboutlugins). What am I missing?

The native JDKs/JREs, other than OpenJDK, do not support the new plugin interface in firefox. You could use seamonkey with those versions of java. The linux java's might work with the linux versions of firefox in ports, but I've never tried that myself.

I followed these instructions:
Quote:
Oracle JDK on FreeBSD

This is the effort of the Java FreeBSD porting project. By the use of patchsets and the JDK source code released by Oracle, this port builds a native JDK for FreeBSD.

cd /usr/ports/java/jdk16
make install clean
Seamonkey gave me same result as Firefox - aboutlugins does not see java plugin at all. Seamonkey does see the flash plugin. Will the Linux plugin work with the Firefox pbi?
