    Kris,
I have struggled to install PC-BSD on my son's PC. Tryin to introduce something besides windows and osx. The PC has UEFI and wasn't sure about much... Finally it installed with ZFS after 15 failed attempts. One bad hard drive in mix? maybe. It worked in Win7.

THANK YOU FOR PC-BSD. Sure it has some bugs. But I like it a lot. As a user I have wrestled with as400 5250 win 3.0 dos... Y2K vista... OSX

I see a real potential in PC-BSD to supplant Windoze...
my suggestions... to improve curb appeal

    Installer help/documentation (filesys partitions lacking)
    crush bugs
    gaming

Keep up the good work... Bless you!

    Hello Kris Moore:

I just wanted to give you and everyone else involved a huge Thank You for all of the help you have given to me: for creating PC-BSD and also for all the technical help you have posted in the forums and through other forms of messages to help people in need like myself.

I recently switched from Ubuntu to PC-BSD & thanks to all your, Dru's and many other kind peoples posts from around the world, you may very well know how happy and thrilled I am to now be using such an awesome and secure OS. I even want to use PC-BSD on our computers for my new online data backup business.

Your vision of PC-BSD and the accomplishment of creating it, will live long into the future.

    Eric :-)

PS - And I hope it puts Microsoft out of business. LoL :-)

The community is only as strong as the front it puts forward to the public, hopefully in a professional, or at least considerate manner.

I got none of those things in #pcbsd on freenode.net, as I was confronted with barbarism in the form of 'we love meat and the more we kill the better',
and LOL at you and stufu types of comments, instead of engaging (* slow time, no one was asking for help, and it tends to be a slow channel anyway)
me as adults and offering opinions.

I went for assistance , and things devolved from there.

Windows installs itself, and it boots into itself with no help from 3rd party utilities, and until Linux/bsd realizes this most basic truth of design, it will remain
a shadow of itself instead of the glory it deserves as a free/open alternative ( especially for those of less means ie: the poor ) to other options.

    Cheers

    Hi,
I would like to install PC-BSD 9 onto a partition on my external hard drive, however it uses a guid partition table as there is a Time Machine backup partition on it.
When I try to install PC-BSD it say most be installed directly to an MBR, is there a way around this?
