    i am having problems writing in forum... Can not post.

    Go to CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS then in WORKSPACE APPEARANCE AND BEHAVIOR choose DEFAULT APLICATIONS

    Thank you, that's very thoughtful of you.

    It's okay, I will persist with PC-BSD and wait until they fix the font rendering issue. I still use Ubuntu, so not too worried about waiting for this to be fixed.

    Re ‘Font rendering off-putting’, I had a similar problem with the Gentoo derivative Calculate Linux, but was able to fix things to an extent using the instructions in the Arch Linux wiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Font_Configuration). Clearly the relevant file paths will be different for FreeBSD, but I’d be happy to send you the contents of my /etc/fonts/local.conf file (the forum’s IM system’s not allowing me to send it on grounds of length).
