    Hello,

Uninstall skype installed from app cafe, then in a terminal (Konsole, gnome terminal, LxTerminal) as root type:

    #portsnap fetch extract

to install ports tree, if it doesn't exist on your system.
    Then:

    #cd /usr/ports/net-im/skype
#make install clean - to install skype from ports.

Or install it from packages (precompiled (binary) ports)

    #pkg_add -r skype

    - this method take less time to install apps and is the easy way to install software on PC(Free)BSD but the apps cannot be personalized for Your system (if You need that).

    Live long and prosper!
    Coszmin.

    Hello AnbuBlack:

I saw this post you made:

QUOTE=AnbuBlack;93397 I had installed skype 2.2.035 from appcafe, and webcam not work, then I read o lots o post on FreeBSD forums, and I decide to downgrade to 2.1.0.81 on which I installed from ports, and now webcam works fine( a Logitech C110-usb)./QUOTE

and I am wondering if you would please give me more details about how you actually went about downgrading to skype 2.1.0.81, if you wouldn't mind? I recently switched from Ubuntu to PCBSD and it is awesome. However I still unfortunately have had to keep Windows XP on my old pc because I can not figure out how to get Skype working in pcbsd, lots of laughs.

Unfortunately I am a newbie and do not know much at all about ports and how to use the terminal very well.

Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.

    Thank you very much,

    Eric
