Just a heads up! We plan to start rolling out PC-BSD 1.5.1 later this month.

There were only a handful of translations that made the 1.5 cut-off last month: currently we have version 1.5 translated into Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Japanese and Turkish, with some other languages almost finished. You can check out the state of the translations at http://www.pcbsd.org:8080/projects/pcbsd/

If it's a while ago since you took part in translating, we are now using Pootle for the translations. With Pootle translations can now be done from your favourite web browser (www.pcbsd.org:8080 (http://www.pcbsd.org:8080)) rather than Qt Linguist. This provides better collaboration between all of us and better efficiency for everybody. More information on translating can be found on http://translations.pcbsd.org

If the translation or your language is already finished, now is maybe a good time, to go through the files (again) and check them over making sure all is perfect and free from typos and errors.

We've agreed to allow a 2 week deadline so that it gives you some time to work on the translations. If you're able to help us, can you please try to finish this by 14 April?

If you run into any problems doing the translations, if anything is unclear or you're having problems using Pootle, please let me know!

On behalf of the PC-BSD Team, I'd like to thank you all for all your hard work, interest and your assistance so far. We really appreciate your ongoing support and dedication.

A thing or two about pootle files

I don't know whos fault is it or why it happens, but I get really desperate translating pootle texts.
Here's the deal, there are texts that I have to translate more than once and I have to go back somewhere so I can find them and copy them again to the new textarea. The fact that pootle uses 7 or 10 results for each page makes this process even more painful going back and back... and back on results.
Is there the possibility to expand the number of results? And even better, expand the results and the dev. team to find repeated texts and use them only once?
I think it would be great for us all if you could make this wishes come true.

Hello Tricky,

You're not the only one who has complained about this. I have discussed this with the devs and we'll clean up the files with the next version and reduce the number to strings to be translated.

In the "PCInstall.po" group of sentences, there is one (the 250th) that reads "Version 1.4"
I guess this is the PCBSD version which will be 1.5.1, is this string used?
Should we translate it to 1.5.1 or leave it as is (1.4)?
Check it below in the screenshot:
