Hi everyone :)

I've been eyeing this project for a while now and thought I'd give it a test drive.

I've been a FreeBSD user now for a while (but only for remote server uses, always using ssh to connect to my dedicated box). I love the OS so much that I want to install it on my macbook pro, dual booting. OSX and PCBSD.

My questions are simple:

Can I get the resolutions of 1440 x 900 that I normally see for my OSX on PCBSD. The video card, if you are wondering is a ATI RADEON X1600 that comes with macbook pro.

What does it take to get this working as simply and quickly as possible?

Thank you and I'm happy to be part of this project for a fine operating system.

The X1600 would probably be problematic because of ATI....

simply and quickly I find are hardware dependent constants ;-)

The best idea is probably to use a FreeBSD based LiveCD that tracks FreeBSD 6.x

Booting off the install CD to use an XTerm during the installer to use the command line might work but you'd need to know enough about FreeBSD to tell what it's saying.

Personally, I just boot off my very old Knoppix Linux LiveCD and check for working audio, networking, vesa graphics card, and mountable drive(s) and make notes before I install.
