Hi,

I got my new notebook PC, Compaq Presario C700 installed with PC-BSD 1.4.1 but then I encountered problems on some of the hardwares like wireless network adapter and data modem because it can't be detected while installing. It seems like this current release doesn't support its respective drivers.

The wireless adapter chipset of this machine is Broadcom BCM4311 while the data modem model is Conexant RD02-D450. I also observed that the video settings was using the default KDE setting instead of Intel GM965 SVGA since this is the machines video adapter chipset.

It is highly appreciated if someone could help on this matter.

Thank you very much!

My laptop has a similiar model of Wireless, stated by my vendor as a single chip Broadcom BCM4318KFBG P11 -> Never got it working with PC-BSD even under ngisgen.

Best thing is probably to buy a support PCMCIA card.

I assume Conexant RD02-D450 == Dial up Modem?

As far as I know FreeBSD 7.0 supports all Intel graphic chipsets, including G965/Q965/GM965/GME965/GME945. Support for G33/Q35/Q33 is also included, but disabled due to lack of testing. And PC-BSD runs FreeBSD 6.2-Stable under the hood, because FreeBSD 7.0 is still in testing.

I didn't have time to read it but I also saw this (http://www.mydatabasesupport.com/forums/unix-os-discussions/170205-intel-g965-graphics-x-org-7-2-freebsd-6-2-release-4.html)

Thanks TerryP! If that is the case when Intel chipsets are already supported on FreeBSD-7.0, then I don't know if PC-BSD project will also do back-porting the support of these drivers to the current FreeBSD-6.2 stable because I will be willing to test the Broadcom wireless adapter support using this notebook and give feedback back to PC-BSD community.

Yes, Conexant RD02-D450 is a dial-up modem.
