Hello,
I am new to Unix and I have to say PC-BSD seems very promising. Comparing PC-BSD to Mandriva Linux 10.2, I have to say that I actually love the look and feel of PC-BSD a whole lot more along with the design goals of PC-BSD being a very clean system. KDE in PC-BSD looks a whole lot better at my screen resolution of 800x600. Under Mandriva, all the dialogs and various configuration screens get cutoff, whilst they appear just fine in PC-BSD. PBI is a fantastic design goal too. I love it.
I am having a problem connecting to the internet, though. The modem dials out just fine using KPPP, but it seems as if there is something blocking the communication. Nothing is able to pass in or out of my computer. Is there a firewall that is blocking my connection by default? The throbber on Konquerer just keeps moving until it times out with an error. What should I do next?
