Hello again,

I have run into two issues since installing PC BSD RC.

1. When playing a video file (Any format except Flash) I get the audio track, but no video. Has anyone else run into this. I did not run into this with 1.3.

Do I need to install specific codecs?

2. The second problem only happens on my desktop. The laptop is fine. Since I install 1.4 on my Desktop it freezes and reboots at random and does this frequently.

Here are the hardware specs on my Desktop if this will help at all.

AMD X2 3800+
1 GB OCZ RAM.
2 100 GB HDDs (one is IDE and 1 is SATA. I have XP on one for gaming and PCBSD on the other drive.)

Mobo: DFI LAN Party SLI board with an Nforce4 chipset.

EVGA 7600 GS. (using latest Nvidia driver included on the PCBSD disk).

Atheros 54G WiFi adaptor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to the help of many on this forum I have managed to solve any other glitches I came across myself.

As a side note. This is not a bug, but I noticed that if you install K3B from the second disk you end up with two installations of the programme.

Thanks in advance

Dan

Precicely, look for a codecs PBI.

I may have solved the issue with my Desktop crashing. I rolled back the Nvidia video driver to the older 9746 and at least for now it seems okay. I guess the newer driver just does not get along with my EVGA 7600GS. I will stick with this driver for now and see if it is a permanent fix.

As to the codec issue. I have found a few references to an allcodec.PBI on the forums, but would appear that this PBI has been defunct for awhile. I am still looking for an alternative. I suppose I could install BPM and install anything related to codecs from the ports.

You can download the Codecs PBI from pbis.in (http://www.pbis.in)

I installed the All Codecs PBI, but I am still having exactly the same problem.

I just found a reference to a similar problem. It was related to Beryl so it was not immediately obvious. I disabled Beryl and problem solved.

Thanks for all the help.
