You´re going to buy a 3D Video card! ATI Video cards don´t have 3D drivers under PC-BSD! Buy from Intel/NVidia :wink:

What our dear excitable fellow means is that, if you want eye candy (ie Beryl) on PC-BSD, you'll need to go with an Nvidia card, as they're the only one's that seem to give a damn about their cards working under any OS but Windows.

* 7300 performs well with FreeBSD
* 7600 performs better

If the 7600 is within your budget, get it.
(stay away from the 6200 though)

If it's a 7600GS, the 7300GT will perform better - higher clock and GDDR3 memory :D

Why? I have an Asus 6200 and no problems at all.
And the speed is fine enough for me. It was pretty cheap while offering enough power even to play Quake3 at good fps rates, etc.

I think you might have mixed it up with the 6200 TC (turbocache).
That one is indeed shitty, despite that the added "turbocache" suggests something else. But the normal 6200 (go for the 128 MB version, the 256 MB version isn't worth the extra money as it doesn't give the card any speed bonus or any other useful benefit) is just fine for a small budget.

I have an Evga Nvidia GeForce 6200 128MB AGP and it works like a dream. Best of all, it doesn't guzzle power like all of the high end cards and works wonderfully with Beryl.
