Hi,
Yesterday I downloaded and installed PC-BSD 1.3. I enjoyed the idea so much that I resolved to download and install PC-BSD 1.4 Beta.
The installation is polished, the system is an almost-perfect implementation of BSD for the desktop. Unfortunately, my issue is related to my machine and not PC-BSD.
I use an ancient AGP ATI Rage Pro with 8 MB video RAM. The card works flawlessly with the Vesa driver at my preferred resolution of 1280x1024 with a 24-bit depth. For obvious performance reasons, I'm wanting to move away from the Vesa driver in order to utilize the ATI driver and dri features.
I've attempted to reconfigure xorg.conf via the excellent display configuration tool provided with PC-BSD 1.4 available at the boot menu. However, when I select the ATI or ATI 3D-Enable drivers, the system only achieves 800x600 as the resolution even though I select 1280x1024 in the dialog.
I apologize if this question has been addressed before. I did attempt to search prior to posting, but I couldn't locate a solution that I could implement. Thanks in advance!
