Is there a gui for adding hard drives?

I used the command line sysinstall... go in, do the cryptic fdisk thing, exit without it confirming things happened, then go back into sysinstall and do the cryptic Disk Label thing, again not sure what is happening, etc.

Presumably, it worked... it mounts with fstab modified.

There has to be a better, more transparent, process!

ALSO, is there broad file system support? Say I build a linux system with an xfs data drive, could I drop that into the PC-BSD system and get it working?

PS: beta 1.4 ver as of July 12. Had 1.3 on the system for awhile, but had to drop it as it didn't seem to support my new 500GB SATA drive. ????

.... (Tried almost every linux version in the meantime, except Gentoo which I know would work, but is too much work. They all failed to install smoothly or were underwhelming due to feature hacks. PCLinuxOS seemed great, but would freeze randomly.)

Woo-hoo! Everything running smoothly so far!

So I guess I should put up a feature request for the hard drive GUI?

I haven't found any PBIs for one... but I know there might be one outside the regular repository so still hoping. (Ultimately want to put in 4 drive SATA RAID5 and do lots of system backups, video management, etc.)

Yep, drive partitioning gui would be great- current installer partitioning is a bit limiting.

...with GELI encryption support, of course!

In the mean time I would suggest using GParted or QTParted under GNU/Linux.

Support for mounting cd9660, UDF, ext2 (ext3 can mount as ext2 but you lose journaling), FAT32, UFS1/2 partitions; NFS, SMB, and NetWare network shares, and other various things is included.

ReiserFS (V3), and NTFS have read only support. Experimental support for Writing to NTFS volumes requires ntfs-3g or w/e it's called.

XFS, I am not sure but can probably be mounted RO if necessary.
