I know this seems like a no-brainer to people familiar with the file structure, but to someone who's never used anything but Winblows it can be frustrating. You can install gkrellm from a handy .pbi but it's up to you to install skins as you get them from the site.
Start the Run Command and choose Options. Check the box for Run as a different user and enter your root password, it should already have root as the username. Type Ark in the commandline and hit Enter. Click File, Open, navagate to where the skin you downloaded is and choose it. On Ark click Action, Extract, and a new applet will open with an addy bar. Type in:
/home/USERNAME/.gkrellm/themes/
and click Ok.
Notice the period before gkrellm? That hides the folder from view.
I hope that helps at least 1 person a little, it's something I had to figure out on my own when starting out.
