View Full Version : WPA support
Let's face it. WEP doesn't cut it. Can we have WPA support for WiFi, preferrably with a GUI for setting it up? Thanks.

I'd say that day will come when you submit some patches into FreeBSD. WPA support in Linux is a niche sneeze of a project for some certain CVS versions of certain drivers like the madwifi and prism stuff. It's more or less non-existent in the BSDs, unless I'm mistaken.
It might be a matter of the community wanting to wait until the 802.11i initiative starts getting some support in the consumer base. At this rate, it'll be a while since most corporations have just invested in consumer-grade equipment that supports WPA and won't be too hot on the idea of re-investing in new equipment to support 802.11i.
In any case, it's not just a matter of flipping a switch and magically including it. It has to exist first.
