I've been a few times on irc.freenode.net #pcbsd now and it seems like there's not happening very much there at the moment. Maybe it's because people are unaware of this channel, or it's too much hassle? I don't know.

However, it's a very useful feature if you need help "there and then" or just want a life chat etc...

Would it be an idea to have a link in the main menu to IRC-Chat that will bring up a browser window that can be used for chatting?

There's a a project called CGI:IRC that we can maybe use
http://cgiirc.sourceforge.net/

Cheers

well one problem is that printing isn't working which is going to turn off a few I suspect ?...linux binary compatibility might be a concern for others ( it is me to some degree ) BUT having said that I think the new pbi package management system is a VERy good step in right direction for NIX and im glad to see somebody take this challenge..this alone enough is fuel to get me to try and get printing working ..

anyway with so many 'distros' out there its easy to see why users are terribly split between them... I think atm ubuntu has a HUGE following because well it just works for 99% of the things people do ( USB,mounting, synpatic package management is EASY ), but I am swayed to consider this because I like the idea of installing apps in their own DIR as I think it solves many current linux delimas.

so atm its just getting past currently held way of doing things, but I suspect maybe better advertising wouldn't hurt. I will of course spread the word as well as I think what pcbsd has is a good thing.
