The ntfs-3g driver is an open source, freely available read/write NTFS
driver, which provides safe and fast handling of the Windows XP, Windows
Server 2003 and Windows 2000 filesystems. Almost the full POSIX filesystem
functionality is supported, the major exceptions are changing the file
ownerships and the access rights.
WWW: http://www.ntfs-3g.org/
To install the port:cd /usr/ports/sysutils/fusefs-ntfs/ && make install clean
To add the package: pkg_add -r fusefs-ntfs
For some reason I`m not able to fetch the package neither source ...

You have to cvsup kernel source first.
Oh ... damn. That will kill my HDDs freespace, since I got only 6 GB for PC-BSD, and it already eats 3.6 GB + SWAP etc ... :D
Oh well, whatever. How to fetch the kernel source ... ?
I don`t remember, though I did this before.

I don't have any NTFS disks laying around I can crash test it on :-)
While I don't care about my WinXP install, I do care about the data on the drive.

I'll test it, and let you know then ;)

Use the PC-BSD System dialog, under the Tasks tab.

NTFS R/W ? that would be a killer feature!
=> ntfs-3g-0.20070118-BETA.tgz doesn't seem to exist in /usr/ports/distfiles/.
=> Attempting to fetch from http://www.ntfs-3g.org/.
fetch: http://www.ntfs-3g.org/ntfs-3g-0.20070118-BETA.tgz: Not Found
=> Attempting to fetch from ftp://ftp.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/distfiles/.
fetch: ftp://ftp.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports ... 8-BETA.tgz (ftp://ftp.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/distfiles/ntfs-3g-0.20070118-BETA.tgz): File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access)
=> Couldn't fetch it - please try to retrieve this
=> port manually into /usr/ports/distfiles/ and try again.

Ports fetched correctly, still nothing ...

That's because it's now http://www.ntfs-3g.org/ntfs-3g-0.20070207-RC1.tgz
That doesn`t work.
What should I do? update ports again? I did this.

I don't know...I'm SOL right now...had a power outage just before I left for work so I can't get to my computer at home. You can try another portsnap and be sure to => Couldn't fetch it - please try to retrieve this
=> port manually into /usr/ports/distfiles/ and try again. dump your download into the distfiles of usr/ports. If all else fails maybe there is some directions at http://www.ntfs-3g.org which is where I found that link.

How can i get NTFS-3G to mount a drive during boot?
Tried to add;
fusefs_enable="YES"
to rc.conf first and then;
#/dev/ar0s5 /mnt/files ntfs-3g defaults 0 0 to fstab but with out any luck
The manual way works just fine and using the latest port (fusefs-ntfs 1.710)

ntfs-3g too slow...
I don't want to use it...more simply to use FAT32 for other OS.

Hello,
ntfs-3g is rebooting my laptop each time I run it - ntfs-3g /dev/ad0s1 /mnt/NTFS/DriveC.
I installed it from ports, removed it and instaled it from pkg but still the same. Any ideas please?
