You only need to second CD to install with extra languages. The touch pad might be able to be fixed with playing with moused settings or drivers.
What chipset is the Wifi card ??

I doubt if the sound card is supported but you may be able to use ndisgen to compile a driver for the Wifi.

Here's how you can try to make your WiFi card work: http://faqs.pcbsd.org/4_324_en.html
Here's how you can enable the "tap" feature of your touchpad (#4): http://faqs.pcbsd.org/9_294_en.html

Dumb question... have you tried refreshing the wireless network list in Network Manager?

You might try to see if your Vendor (Sony or the manufactur of the Wifi card I'd guess) has the Windows Drivers for download that you can unpack some where and copy over to the laptop.

Have you tried 'kldload' ? That loads files/drivers into the kernel.

The iwi driver should support Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG/2225BG/2915ABG cards
Add these lines to the bottom of your /boot/loader.conf file
wlan_wep_load="YES"
wlan_tkip_load="YES"
wlan_ccmp_load="YES"
wlan_xauth_load="YES"
wlan_acl_load="YES"
if_iwi_load="YES"
There should be a few topics on WPA / WEP setup here or you can check here (http://www.freebsdmall.com/~loader/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/wireless/article.html)for a more detailed info. The networking configuration program in the Control Center should work if you need (or want) WEP but I'd suggest WPA-PSK if possible :-)[/code]

Yesterday i tested this solution : WiFi is recognized...but not work
the results are :
- Intel(R) PRO/wireless 200bg - NO CARRIER
- no wireless network....but after refresh...is present with 0 dBm (dhcp)
WHY ?
with other O.Systems are automatic recognized and connecting......

What happens if you refresh on the OdB message?
nothing
if I want to create a "new connection wifi" , name_defined + DCHP, ....after "connection" my IP was 0.0.0.0....if not use DHCP ...change IP but...not have connection
