Hello,

I have an Alienware Sentia 223 (generic name is Uniwill 223, i think) with an Intel 82852/82855 (can't remember exactly which one it is) graphics controller
and I am having display problems. The max resolution i am able to get is 1024x768. My actual screen resolution is 1280x800. Is it a driver problem? If so, where can i get it (When posting, please keep in mind that i have never installed anything in the PCBSD OS before)? Intel provides a Linux driver for this, but has very broad instructions as far as installation.
Please help.

Is edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config file.

I know, that is a very short answer that will probably prompt a "How do I do that" but let's cross that bridge when we get to it!

You are indeed correct. How do I do that Matt?

I went into ¨run command¨ entered the file you had indicated probably needed to be edited, but I have no idea what to do. Did I even go to the right place?

Do you think you could figure out how to attach /etc/X11/XF86config to an email and send it to me?

I'd be glad to take a look and send you back a modified file that would probably fix your problem.

Send to emattman@cascadeaccess.com if that is possible.

If not, I'll check back here soon and we'll go from there..

It's the third time i do this today... We better start writing a readme for these issues until this is not done automatically...

Have fun!

If anyone else thinks it's a good idea, then perhaps we should organise a FAQ list for VERY FAQ Qs : ) Perhaps it should go into the default startup so users get hit with it the moment they first start up. Thats EASY - but what to put in it, and who writes it is HARD!

Matt,

I will try what pcbsdusr said to try 1st. If that doesn't work I'll let you know. Thanks a lot! Greatly appreciated!
