View Full Version : Dell Laptop function keys are enabled on desktop

I have a Dell Inspiron 7500 Laptop on which I have just installed PC-BSD.

I really like it so far but I notice that the sub-functions are enabled on the keyboard so the letters on the right are numbers. If I hold down the Fn key they type normally - however this is quite impractical for use.

Any suggestions welcome

By default KDE is set to enable numlock on boot.

Had the same problem on my laptop, just press 'pad lock', 'num lock' or whatever it's called on your machine and the problem will go away.

To disable it on boot:

KMenu -> Control Center -> Peripherals -> Keyboard. In the 'Numlock on KDE Startup' section on the page, set the option to 'Turn off'.
