PCBSD 1.3beta2 comments

Hi developers and fellow PCBSD users!

First of all: beta2 seems a lot more better/stable than beta 1. Good work!

1) I choose swedish keyboard in the installation program but that is totally ignored in the console. In KDE swedish keyboard works great.

2) Since I use a laptop keyboard it's quite annoying to have KDE turning on num-lock. I think the installer shoud set it to "Leave unchanged". That's a much more sane default IMO.

3) Is there a way to remove the "Start"-text on the start menu? I'd prefer to have only the red freebsd logo as start menu icon.

4) I earlier versions the console were 800x600. Now it's text mode. Why?

5) All the startup errors in beta1 seems gone in beta2. Great!

Hi Mikael, thanks! These issues are taken care of. To remove "Start", open these two files:

/usr/local/share/config/kickerrc
~/.kde/share/config/kickerrc

Look for the following entry:

[KMenu]
ShowText=true
Text=Start

And change it to:

[KMenu]
ShowText=false

[rodonn]

I like the new desktop lay out... I'm currently getting the levels of KDE base I want...

Otherwise a pretty smooth upgrade.

when KDE base has done it's thang, I'll take a look at CUPS response.

Thanks for the info!

I don't know if it's just my USB stick... but I'm unable to mount it in this beta2. In OpenSUSE 10.0 it works. It has a fat32 file system on it.

Oh, and is it possible to get 1024x768 in the console? It does'n have to be set by the installer, but it would definately be cool to have.

CUPS is playing just fine on my M/C but I upgraded from 1.2...
