I recently installed PC-BSD 1.2 and what can I say ... I was impressed. Seems like a great alternatve for a newbie in the Unix-based world like me.
Only... my soundcard didn't work. Its an external USB Device, Roland UA-30 (now Edirol). I searched the Internet quite for a while, but didnt find any useful information of how to get it work. Most Linux distributions recognize it, but PC-BSD doesn't - well at least not as soundcard. Can anyone help me there?
(I do have Onboard sound, which works, but that card is crap - and I usually only use it for VoIP telephony)
I'd be pleased if you could keep your answers "easy" as I do know virtually nothing about BSD ... and english is not my native language. Thx :)

Searching in the usual places it appears that such a driver doesn't exist for FreeBSD/PC-BSD. Looking on their support page (http://www.rolandus.com/support/downloads_updates/?Identifier=T-Z), they don't even list a driver for a UA-30 and the closest one (UA-20 or US-25) is only for Windows or Mac. Nothing in the FreeBSD lists either. Googling the two together (FreeBSD + Roland UA-30) brings back a few pages in an Asian language but I can't translate. Sorry.

... that was my result as well. Thx anyway. The Card is about 5 Years old now - but it works really good, so I hoped to be able continue using ist.

Any idea what other External USB-Soundcard that is affordable works with FreeBSD/PC-BSD?
