I'm trying to install PCBSD onto a toshiba satelite pro 6100. When I boot the CD it goes thru the routine but when I get to the nice splash screen it just locks with "Starting System..."

I don't get a text install prompt or anything...

Has anyone experienced this? If so what is there to do to remedy it?

Thanks..

themadtux.

Not installed yet.

A couple of things could be doing this - can you dismiss the splash screen by pressing the "Esc" (maybe a few times) after it appears to try to see if you can see whats going on ?

If you get to / have intalled and you get a similar problem.......

Another possibility is it has created a dodgy partition. Search about on this site for simialr probs - there has been issues with the partition creator/mbr/etc and Kris is working hard to reslove this. (as you could imagine).

I ended up deleting my partition with the UBCD 3.3 tools, creating a new Freebsd partition with UBCD 3.3, installing GAG bootloader, and telling PC_BSD NOT to install a bootloader. It was a stuff around but worth it. I know the partition issues are being focused on.

Yeah I can't do anything.. it just locks and locks hard. I can't hit esc or anything. I know the CD is good because I tested it on my desktop AMD64 machine. Loaded past the flower splash screen and gave me the text mode install routine.

I am having the same problem on my Averatec 5400 laptop. have tried .75 and .78 and it does the same thing. I have no problem installing it on any of my desktops. I just tried a freebsd cd and noticed that freebsd is freezing on the USB controller...hmmm will have to figure this one out
