Tring to install PC-BSD version 1.2, the kernel starts and then it appears that the X-window session aborts as it starts, kicking the monitor off.
SuSE 10.1 installs flawlessly on the same hardware.
MoBo is Asus A7Pro, Duron 750 MHZ CPU and 1.5 GB Memory
Video Card is ATI Rage Pro 128
Monitor is Samsung 913V LCD
Reading the other posts here and elsewhere - would I be better off getting a different video card? If so, which one works most often?
