Hey all, just wanted to give you an update on deveopment status, but first of all, I just finished uploading the new Nvidia driver for PC-BSD! This pbi file installs the required drivers / libraries, and replaces your XF86Config file to allow you to begin using the Nvidia support immediately. Test it out, and please let me know of any problems!
In other news, work on 0.8 progresses. I've added support to the installer for allowing custom partitioning, for example, creating a seperate /usr filesystem, etc. Also, the bug with the audio device being busy has been fixed, as well as some smaller issues with the package manager, splash screen, etc. I'm going to be testing support for dial-up modems as well for this release, so if you've had problems dialing up, and found a solution, make sure to let me know!

BTW, I know we had a thread on it earlier, but I'm looking into different themes / skins for the next release. Anybody have any ideas? Any themes they like a lot?

Hi,
thanks for the nvidia driver, I'm gonna install it as soon as I had rebooted from my fedora3.
Well, I saw there is a new driver since a few days...grrrr....
Maybe you could make a new pbi, as I suppose the process is well done and you do not have to rebuild from scratch...
And a question : it is gnome on the screenshots?? How did you install it on pcbsd? via the usual freebsd ports ?

Sorry guys, I made a confusion between bsd driver, linux driver, linux binary support ...hugh!
But I want to learn from my mistake : is it possible (with the linux binary support) to install the latest lnux driver, without lost of performance ?

Installed the nvidia pbi.
it replaces the XF86Config, so I needed to redo the changes I made before to that file
so far so good, but:
I have noticed that root has lost his Xaccess rights again right after installing the nvidiapbi, and that one I can't explain..
How can installing the nvidia drivers have an influence on that? Anyone?
I know how to solve it again, I was just wondering if that is the intention and how come?

nvidia driver pbi installed. I changed keyboard for 'fr' in Xfreeconfig. When I run glxgears from a console, it runs slowly the gears for a few seconds and then crashes to put me in front og login menu...

I love that theme (Gnome). Is there a KDE equivalent?
If there is, I'd highly recommend making that the official skin. It's very slick and professional looking...perfect for business environments and your average end-user (who loves eye candy).
By the way...what's the exact theme name? I'm looking on Gnome-look.org, but I can't find it. :)

That links has some info on the theme...but I can't find it anywhere else
