I guess I'll post this in the correct forum . Has anyone tried the FireGL Linux Driver Port from http://www.neovanglist.net/~Neovanglist ... ver.tar.gz (http://www.neovanglist.net/~Neovanglist/ATI/ati-driver.tar.gz) ? I'm not quite sure what to think of this one . I ran GLXgears and had the cursor freeze while the framerate took off like crazy , then slowed right down . I done a deinstall of the port and it seemed to improve performance on the old Radeon 9200 . I have a new Nvidia card comming , but I am curious if anyone has managed to get decent performance out of an ATI card .

As far as I know got FireGL nothing in common with 9200.

I would assume that if it works on a 9800 ( http://www.fglrx-freebsd.com/ ) , it should work on a 9200 .

I referring to hardware names, not sure why they name it like that, this is confusing.

Yes it's called ATI, ATI Technologies Inc.
A 1900 can nuke a 9200 ? Hehe

Hmm... that's an idea . A good microwaving might be the most amusement that old ATI card will ever provide . :D

Hey, don't know those old ATI cards. My 9600 was probably the best supported video card I had for years. It always worked out of the box for BSD, Linux and Windows. And for awhile there, the cable TV even worked.

My ATI card works too , but I'm not paying the extra money for a video card to merley have it do basic tasks , I expect 3D performance for games . Bye bye ATI , hello Nvidia .
