I'm a linux user, but i'm unhappy with linux. so many distros and all lack something vital, either packaging system, speed, or gui system apps. i've tried many and i don't like what i see. however, my impression of bsd is exceptional. robust and secure is the terms i use.
The ral and ural drivers are now part of FreeBSD 6-CURRENT. Upgrade your source tree to get the latest version.
The following links are obsolete versions of the drivers.
The ral driver won't compile under FreeBSD 5.4. It is designed for FreeBSD 6-CURRENT only!
unfortunately, on this website from the RT2500 BSD driver page: http://damien.bergamini.free.fr/ral/download.html it says that it only works with FreeBSD 6.0 . I know PC-BSD is using Freebsd 5.4 . Could it be possible for me to use the Ralink *BSD RT2500 driver in PC-BSD?
i was thinking of maybe doing a cvs-up under PC-BSD to upgrade to 6.0, but maybe then the .pbi packages won't install, right? then what would be the purpose of using PC-BSD if i broke the system?
is there a solution to this? btw, the wireless card is a must on my system. i didn't buy it for nothing!! :)
