Hi, I currently have a Lexmark Z605 color inkjet printer. It's cheap, very reliable, and relitavely small/fast. In short, I really like this thing! However, I can't get it to work in BSD, and I don't know if I'll be able to in Linux either, considering their only UNIX related printer driver is for Red Hat (worked with Suse, but now I use Ubuntu which is .deb based.).

I don't need anything fancy, but I do like small and fast (also with color). I mostly use my printer to print term papers for classes, research materials, etc. I've had good luck with HP printer performance and compatibility in the past, though they can be more expensive than other brands.

The bottom line, though, is that I want something compatible with PC BSD so I don't have to go through a million burning hoops to print stupid text documents.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Any thing theres a driver for included in PC-BSD for should be fine ^_^

I use an Lexmark Z12 via USB cable and a modified Zsomething driver. Shes a little old (at least 4 years and $60 ago) but she works.

I bought an HP F380 (all in one) but can't use the scanner. Prints fine but not the fastest but only $80 out the door at Staples.
