One total newbie question. How much is safe use non selective command for upgrading ports. Exapmle

This q. is result from ignorance relationship between FreeBSD and PCBSD.

Nope. With portupgrade I kill my PCBSD at instance.
What's wrong?
At first!
# cd /usr/ports/sysutils/portupgrade
# make install clean
Then I scan ports with
# pkgdb -F
At last
# portupgrade -a
After several minutes hi just freez and only what I can is to reboot my PC. Same happend second time.

After several minutes of downloading something?
Something is wrong with your hardware or file system.

i realy don't know what his doing -screen saver was on my screen. Just freeze and nothing I can do. All was block. Same routine on FreeBSD perfect working. Maybe problem is in upgrading (from PCBSD 1,11 to 1,2) - several message on pkgdb -F point on thats way (report double bases etc..). I will download fresh cd iso image then i can see about that.
