Just curious, does the guy who registered the IRC Channel on freenode actually contribute to the project? I know he banned me after 3 days of talking to every person who entered that channel and trying to offer support.

I really hope your views and opinions aren't the overall of the project. Not allowing free and open discussion in an IRC channel or possibly a fourm could be pretty devistating to a project. I'm sorry you decided to show up when I mentioned you registered the channel, I didn't realise making this known was a problem. Also, I planned to contribute with packages and support as much as possible, but I'm afraid the attitude of one person has changed my mind. I beg everyone else to avoid the irc channel unless you want the same outcome as I received.

Oh and one more thing, 3 days of newbie spamming... do you have any idea what audience a desktop bsd would be marketed toward?

Aru,

I havent heard any of this so far, I havent done anything with the IRC channel really, and that one isn't under my control. But the forums are and always will be open to discussion / feedback, and its much appreciated! When I get some free time (Who knows? It might happen), I'll take a look into setting up an official PC-BSD irc channel.

That would be excellent, but apprently this guy already registered #PC-BSD and #PCBSD on freenode. It's tough trying to provide support and ask questions with an op who just bans people who speak up. I was trying to think of a name for a channel that heasn't registered yet, but have come up with nothing yet.

Seems here that Kris is gonna have to do the Linus Torvalds thing and be a strong and fair PC-BSD maintainer. I hope a Bitkeeper type fiasco doesn't arise so early (although with Moore's law it is bound to happen). I also hope that juvenile attitutudes are purged from the PC-BSD ecosystem (though this eventually happens when experience of project sets in).

Kris get ready to spend more time managing political inconveniences than you did before.

PS there are a lot of children with strange tools called keyboards.

I hope you never repeat this kind of offensive posting on this forum.

No matter what happens please dont ever do this again.

You might be right or wrong. This behavior doesnt help you in any way...

Now let's go back to PC-BSD. This kind of issue is just a waste of time...
