I downloaded the 4.0 patch (no internet at home, have to d/l from work. side note: going back to the office at night not as fun as advertised) and ran it... everything looked peachy.

Then I tried to install patch 5 and it said I need to install patch 4 first. yipe! I retried 4.0 and it says it's already installed... then back to trying 5 and it says I need 4... etc. etc. What is going on?

Is it possible to skip patch 5 and go directly to the rc2 updater?

odd, never had this problem. For me, it was from patch 5 to rc2, it crashed the system, then I restarted it, then it worked.

In this case, I think it might have been a mirror issue... or a filename issue on my part.

How embarassing.

Anyway, I have since redownloaded patch 4 from a different mirror and it worked fine. Patch 5 installed without issue, but now patch 6 (rc2) has the same issue that you noted... only it doesn't work after reboot for me. It locks up at 98%, if it helps explain where the problem is.

hmmm... did you close all your programs before you installed the patch as directed?

Did you click cancel at one point?

Closed all programs before starting and left it running overnight so as to avoid temptation with the cancel button.
