I d/led the ISO, checked the md5sum, burned and tried to install. I get to the hd setup and select take over entire disk, then it gets stuck on the creating slices (actually never even starts). When I try the other way, it starts install, but freezes up at about 46%.

I had rc1 installed on it a few months ago, so I know it's possible on the machine. The only problem I had with rc1 was it would freeze up after a while. Especially when Firefox had a d/l hang up. The mouse would move, but nothing else did.

did you try another CD-R/CD-RW? i mean different brand name?
i remember i had an extremely weired experience with installing Xandros some time ago -- the installation program "suddenly" said it couldn't detect the CD some % during the installation..

No. I don't see why that would be a factor. Like I said, I had rc1 installed earlier.

I appear to be having the same trouble with the install any Ideas what might be causing the problem? or a work around.

Yeah, really. I've been waiting a few days for some solution...

I installed 1.0RC2 and everything went black. Everything. After some tickeling I was able to get into bios, but it seemed to be OK. But the next time I tried to boot the PC, it went black again.

Now I started thinking about Mandriva, who seems to have some tools to prevent the cpu from getting to hot. Maybe PC-BSD has the same? So I opened up my PC and dug out my cpu-van. It was dirty work, but now my PC has a sleepy humming instead of the full-speed howling of the past. And you know what? The installation went without problems!??
